PIGGYBACK - ROGER BALLEN | This limited edition single deck is Ballen’s re-interpretation of Paul McCarthy’s skateboard deck “Piggy”. When Roger Ballen attended an opening of the Skateistan skate park in Johannesburg, South Africa, he photographed one of the young skateboarders with a mask on. This resulted in this wonderful edition: “Piggyback”. Piggyback is a limited edition of 50 and comes with a hand-signed certificate by the artist.
The 7 iconic limited editions skateboard decks by Roger Ballen that were launched at FAMOUS in november 2017 are still available on our website. They explore the rich and weird universe and offer a glimpse into his art and psyche. Ballen's 7 skateboard deck editions consist of both solo works and collaborations with the South-African band Die Antwoord and Paul McCarthy.

Klein, a Dutch artist and VJ living on Bali, was in fact the very first artist to receive a BA in computer-graphics in 1989. It’s insufficient to say Klein was way ahead of his time and is a true pioneer. The list of amazing collabs is infinite and ever growing. Kleins works are now part of world-renowned museum collections, among which are LACMA Los Angeles, Denver Art Museum, Arken Museum Denkmark, Groninger Museum, Stedelijk Museum and more. He had an exhibition in the prestigious Mary Boone Gallery in New York in 2000 and his notorious “Pillman” background projections were incorporated in the USA-tour of rapper Eminem in the same year. His legendary Pillman animation (created in 1993) grew out to be a huge phenomenon. Pillman is dancing cheerfully in the spotlight with a big smile, while spreading love, happiness and the feeling of ecstasy.

This whimsical Balloon Dog, which is cast porcelain coated with a red reflective finish attached to a porcelain plate, is a multiple after the artist’s large-scale original, installed at Versailles. SARAH LUCAS @newmuseum | Michou at the first American survey of the work of British artist Sarah Lucas, at The New Museum in New York (2018). “Sarah Lucas: Au Naturel” features some of Lucas’s most important projects, including early sculptures from the 1990s that substitute domestic furniture for body parts and enlarged spreads from tabloid newspapers from the same period, which reflect objectified representations of the female body. Alongside the photographic self-portraits that Lucas has produced throughout her career, the exhibition features biomorphic sculptures including her stuffed-stocking Bunnies (1997–ongoing) and NUDS (2009–ongoing), the Penetralia series (2008–ongoing), and selections from her installations at the Freud Museum in London (2000) and the British Pavilion at the Venice Biennale (2015). These works, which complicate inscribed codes of sexual and social normativity, have never before been shown together in the US.
Lucas has also created new sculptural works for the exhibition, including This Jaguar’s Going to Heaven (2018), a severed 2003 Jaguar X-Type—the car’s back half burned and its front half collaged with cigarettes—and VOX POP DORIS (2018), a pair of eleven-foot-tall thigh-high platform boots cast in concrete.
