Alla Esipovich (1963) is a Russian photographer from Leningrad. Esipovich won the Se-Zam 2002 for her Portrait series featured in St-PSobaka.ru, for which she headed the photo department in 2000-2004. Her work features Russians that normally feature along the sidelines, such as circus dwarfs and elderly in her No Comment series. She seeks to photograph people as they are, without staging or reworking. The principal driving force behind her photographs is the texture of psychological relationships between the models, combined harmony and dissonance, as well as sociological and cultural references linked to Russia and its Soviet past.
