Peter Hill Beard (1938) is an American photographer/diarist/writer from New York. Beard started to create elaborate diaries at a young age with collages, texts, drawings, transcripts of phone conversations and photographs. He continued working in this manner as an adult. Beard is not only famous for his photographs of endangered African elephants, and other African themes, but also for his depictions of supermodels and rock stars like Mick Jagger, David Bowie and Iman. In the ‘70’s and ‘80’s he frequently hung out with Andy Warhol, Jackie Onassis and Truman Capote, among others.
