Robert Indiana - born Robert Clark - (1928) is an American Pop Art artist from New Castle, Indiana, he lives and works in Vinalhaven, Maine. He’s best known for his sculptural poems, such as LOVE, an iconic piece that has taken many shapes over the years; as an United States Postal Service stamp, a Cor-ten steel statue and numerous paintings. In 2008 he created a similar piece called HOPE, and donated all proceeds from the sale of reproductions of his image to the presidential campaign of Barack Obama.
