Terry Richardson (1965) is an American photographer from New York City. From an early age his father Bob Richardson, who was a fashion photographer, exposed him to photography. He started photographing himself after working as an assistant to photographer Tony Kent. Richardson’s work is noted for its controversial, graphic, sexual subject matter, which is strongly inspired by ‘70’s and ‘80’s porn. He uses raw imagery, often harshly lighted, in which he also features from time to time alongside his models, in sexually explicit poses. Richardson shoots photographs for advertisements, fashion designers and editorials.
