Chapman Brothers for Supreme

7 November 2012

In April 1994, Supreme opened its doors on Lafayette Street in downtown Manhattan and became the home of New York City’s skate culture. The store’s staff, customers and crew consisted of rebellious and young designers and artists. Supreme established itself as a brand known for its quality, style and authenticity.

Supreme has worked with some of our generation’s most groundbreaking designers, artists, photographers and musicians – including Takashi Murakami and the Chapman Brothers.

Iakovos “Jake” Chapman (born 1966) and Konstantinos “Dinos” Chapman (born 1962) are English visual artists, often known as the Chapman Brothers. They work together as a collaborative sibling duo. Their subject matter tends to concentrate on whatever is generally deemed to be appalling, vulgar, offensive, etc. In the mid-1990s their sculptures were included in the Young British Artist showcase exhibitions Brilliant! and Sensation. In 2003, the two were nominated for the annual Turner Prize but lost out to Grayson Perry.

For Supreme, the Chapman Brothers have designed limited edition skateboards.
The themes on the skateboards represent bold pictures with explicit themes involving sex, religion, Nazism and more.
Supreme has released a series of five limited edition skateboard decks designed by Jake & Dinos Chapman.
Available in-store in NY, LA, London and on auction at Famous Auction House.
