Each Takashi Murakami sculpture is numbered and comes with a certificate of authenticity and in its original box.
Inochi (Japanese for Life or Spirit) are five figures by Takashi Murakami, with alien-like heads over small bodies made of (plastic) flesh and machinery. Murakami directed a short animation film to accompany the project of an Inochi in school with a schoolboy crush on a girl: his body responds to the crush, and the Inochi doesn’t know how to respond.
Takashi Murakami is one of the leading contemporary Japanese artists and a favourite of international collectors. In his work he combines traditional Japanese imagery with (Japanese) pop culture. Murakami’s distinctive “Superflat” style challenges our ideas on secular and religious visual culture, while it is often both a commentary on, as well as a homage to the history of art.
