About Harland Miller:
Harland Miller (1964) is a British artist and writer from Yorkshire, who now works and lives in London. In the early 90’s and before moving to London, he worked and lived in New York, Berlin and New Orleans. Miller achieved critical acclaim as a writer with his debut novel “Slow down Arthur, Stick to Thirty”. In 2001 he started working on a series of paintings based on the dust covers of Penguin books. The paintings hint at the nostalgic covers of Penguin books, with phrases written by Miller as titles. The book titles are particularly hilarious, absurd and often at the same time, melancholic and nostalgic.
About the deckchairs:
The deckchairs made by Harland Miller show his signature adaptation of Penguin’s instantly recognizable covers. There are several variations of the deckchairs available, each from a Limited Edition of 50.
The frames are made with sustainable merpauh wood, treated with teak oil, which provides excellent protection against the elements, extends the working life, while the fine finish enhances the natural appearance. The canvas is a mixture of very hard wearing polyester and cotton, printed using state-of-the-art technology.
