Andy Warhol -Andrew Warhola Jr.- (1928 – 1987) was an American artist from Pittsburgh, he worked and lived in New York. He’s one of the best known Pop Art artists. Starting out as an illustrator for shoe adverts, he soon focussed on painting every day objects like the world famous Campbellsoup can. In the 1960’s he started The Factory a studio where he and his team worked on his famous silk-screens and films, among other things, and a meeting place for artists, gays, transvestites and models. He worked with-, and painted many famous artists and figures like Lou Reed, Mick Jagger and John Lennon.
