Takashi Murakami is popular at Art Basel Hong Kong!

The doors of the VIP viewing at Art Basel Hong Kong opened at the 22nd of May. The four day fair started off with serious sales in the first few hours, led by big name international artists.

One of the artists that was very popular at Art Basel Hong Kong was Takashi Murakami at Galerie Perrotin. His sculptures were a huge hit, especially “Pom & Me”. This is a cartoon version of the artist and his dog, Pom. The statues came in gold, silver and color and were being sold for $135,000. Gallery owner Emmanuel Perrotin said, “At the time of press, 15 statues were sold.”
